NEMA Starts Crack Down on Noise Pollution in Lira

Officials from National Environment Management Authority (NEMA)'s Lira regional office together with Environment Protection Force (EPF) on Thursday April 5, 2018 carried out an operation today in Lira Town to crack down on the increasing noise pollution in the municipality.

In the operation, a number of music and public address equipment were impounded from targeted facilities which were emitting noise in excess of permissible noise levels despite several warnings from from NEMA and Environmental Police.

The facilities include West Coast Rovers Pub in teso bar,Florena Hotel and Pub, Olilim Pub and Guest House, Fortress Pub, Rock Bar,The Tugu Pub,and Jimojimo Pub.

Most of the affected facilities were found to be near to clinics, schools, and others located in residential areas of which the communities were hugely inconvenienced due to the loud noise.
