NEMA carries out Impact Assessment within the following ways
Assessing and monitoring all environmental phenomena with a view to making an assessment of any possible changes in environment and their possible impact;
Monitoring operation of any industry, project, policy or activity with a view to determining its immediate and long-term effects on the environment;
Distributing EIA reports to relevant sectors (Ministry/Department);
Making recommendations on approval or mitigating factors relating to environmental assessments;
Following up to ensure that mitigation measures are put in place;
Ensuring compliance with EIA legislation;

LIST OF CERTIFIED AND REGISTERED ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTITIONERS IN UGANDA, 2015
The Committee of Environmental Practitioners of Uganda, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by the National Environment
(Conduct and Certification of Environmental Practitioners) Regulations, 2003, has Certified and Registered the followinglisted persons
and partnershipsas Environmental Practitioners for purposes of carrying out Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA),Environmental
Audits (EA) and/or to coordinate the conduct of EIAand/orEA respectively, in Uganda.
An Environmental Practitioner’s registration is valid from the date of registration until the 31stday of December, 2015. Notwithstanding
the aforementioned, a registered Environmental Practitioner may continue to practice up to the 28thFebruary 2016, pending renewal of
the registration for2016.
