National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP)<\/h1>\n

The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) leads Uganda\u2019s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP), the country\u2019s guiding framework for conserving biodiversity and ensuring its sustainable use. The project aligns Uganda\u2019s priorities with global commitments under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. <\/p>\n

Objectives<\/span>\n <\/p>\n

\u2022    Conserve Uganda\u2019s rich biodiversity and ecosystems. <\/p>\n

\u2022    Promote sustainable use of natural resources for inclusive development. <\/p>\n

\u2022    Ensure fair and equitable sharing of benefits from genetic resources.<\/p>\n

\u2022    Integrate biodiversity into national policies, planning, and economic activities. <\/p>\n

Key Focus Areas <\/span>\n <\/p>\n

\u2022    Protection and restoration of forests, wetlands, and wildlife habitats<\/p>\n

.\u2022   Addressing threats from invasive species and pollution. <\/p>\n

\u2022    Strengthening climate change adaptation through biodiversity. <\/p>\n

\u2022    Promoting community participation, with emphasis on youth, women, and indigenous groups. <\/p>\n

\u2022    Managing biotechnology and reducing human-wildlife conflicts. <\/p>\n

Current Phase <\/span>\n <\/p>\n

Uganda is implementing NBSAP III (2025\u20132030) under the theme: \u201cSustainable use of biodiversity for inclusive wealth creation.\u201d This builds on earlier strategies, placing stronger emphasis on climate resilience, innovative financing, and community-driven conservation. <\/p>\n

The NBSAP Project at NEMA is a cornerstone of Uganda\u2019s environmental stewardship, ensuring that biodiversity remains a foundation for sustainable development and future prosperity.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n
