National Environment Sustainability Awards 2026 
\n <\/h1>\n \"\"\n
\n

\n Eligibility<\/span>\n <\/strong>\n <\/p>\n

a). Must have undertaken ESIA studies and possess valid certificates of approval of ESIA where applicable.<\/p>\n

b). Evidence of annual environmental audits undertaken consistently, where applicable.<\/p>\n

c). Possess valid licenses and permits related to environmental management, where applicable.<\/p>\n

d). Applicants MUST NOT HAVE any on-going litigations in the Courts of Law against them in regard to environment degradation.<\/p>\n

e). Must:   <\/p>\n

      i. Submit completed and signed application    <\/p>\n

     ii. Attach all supporting evidence    <\/p>\n

    iii. Meet application deadlines    <\/p>\n

    vi. Any form of Lobbying shall result in automatic disqualification.<\/p>\n

2<\/td>\n Green Financial Institution Award
\n <\/td>\n 		This category will\nrecognise a youth organisation that has excelled in driving environmental\nsustainability among young people in Uganda in the following areas: \n
-      Energy Efficiency Technologies 
-      Pollution Prevention and Control 
-      Ecosystems restoration\n <\/td>\n <\/tr>\n
3<\/td>\n Environmental Journalism & Media Award
-   Media House (TV, Radio, Print and Online media)
-   Individual Journalist \n <\/td>\n 		This award will recognise\nmedia firms and or journalists that have excelled in environmental reporting.  \n
-      Media space dedicated to environmental matters.  \n
\n
-      Accuracy and evidence-based reporting 
-      Translating complex\nclimate science metrics into accessible, accurate formats for non-technical\nstakeholders.
-     Environmental knowledge-sharing and awareness platforms \n <\/td>\n <\/tr>\n
4<\/td>\n Biodiversity Conservation Award <\/td>\n Recognises\norganisations that have excelled in biodiversity conservation in Uganda,\nthrough \n
-      Species conservation 
-      Habitat restoration 
-      Ecosystem conservation \n <\/td>\n <\/tr>\n
5<\/td>\n Lead Agency Award
-   Central Government
-   Local Government
\n <\/td>\n 		This award will\nrecognise Lead Agency institutions that have excelled in executing their\nmandate through:\n  \n
-      Evidence of active implementation of the respective mandate in the area\nof environmental management.
-      Ecosystem restoration 
-      \nTimely submission of\nreports to NEMA as required by law \n <\/td>\n <\/tr>\n
6<\/td>\n Climate Smart Agriculture Award <\/td>\n This award will\nrecognise an organisation or firm that has excelled in sustainable\nclimate-smart agriculture through: \n
-      Quantified emissions avoided or carbon stored through project activities. 
-      Use of organic integrated pesticides and avoidance of harmful chemicals 
-      Climate change adaptation 
-      Water conservation Ecosystem conservation \n <\/td>\n <\/tr>\n
7<\/td>\n Community Environmental Stewardship Award <\/td>\n This award will\nrecognise community-based organisations that have excelled in mobilising and\nempowering communties in sustainable environment stewardship. \n
-      Community-based ecosystem restoration 
-      Community waste management initiatives 
-      Environmental knowledge-sharing and awareness platforms\n <\/td>\n <\/tr>\n
8<\/td>\n Climate Resilient Initiative of the year <\/td>\n This award will recognise firms or individuals that\nhave demonstrable innovations for practical climate change mitigation and\nadaptation 
-      Greenhouse Gas emissions avoided 
-      Climate-induced risk prevention and management\ninterventions 
-      Society value in terms of green jobs and incomes 
-      Nature based\nsolutions innovated \n <\/td>\n <\/tr>\n
9 <\/td>\n Environment Development partner of the year Award <\/td>\n This award will recognise organisations from\nthe development partner community that have dedicated significant resources for\nsustainable environmental management in Uganda 
-     Biodiversity conservation 
-     Pollution prevention and management 
-     Climate change management \n <\/td>\n <\/tr>\n
10<\/td>\n Green school of the year Award<\/td>\n This award will recognise a school or\neducation institution that has excelled in sustainable environment best\npractices 
-     Waste management

11<\/td>\n Environment Research Award<\/td>\n This award will\nrecognise research institutions\/individuals for breakthrough, innovative,\npublished research that addresses contemporary environmental problems in Uganda\nin the following areas:  \n
-      Pollution Prevention and Control 
-      Biodiversity loss prevention and management 
-      Climate change\nmitigation and adaptation \n <\/td>\n <\/tr>\n
12<\/td>\n Youth Environmental Champion Award<\/td>\n This category is for\nyoung leaders driving environmental sustainability and will consider the\nfollowing aspects: \n
-      Initiatives\/ technologies developed to improve resource (water, energy\nand materials) efficient use 
-      Climate mitigation and adaptation initiatives\/ technologies 
-      Implemented green economy and cleaner production practices and\ntechnologies 
-      Initiatives for waste minimisation and pollution control.
