font-size: 12pt;\">NEMA launched its Strategic Plan 2025\/26-29\/30 at Sheraton Hotel, Kampala attended by representatives from government, development partners, embassies and non-governmental organisations among others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The Strategic Plan direction includes reducing degraded wetlands, increasing compliance to 85%, expanding environmental mainstreaming among lead agencies, enhancing farmer resilience to climate change, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions among others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The implementation of this plan will cost UGX 295billion, with UGX 270billion appropriated by the Government of Uganda, leaving a funding gap of UGX 24billion.Looking ahead, the NEMA\u2019s Strategic Plan prioritised sustainable environmental management envisioned in the Uganda\u2019s Vision 2040 and the National Development Plan IV.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">For the FY2025\/26 to 2029\/30 NEMA will focus on five key areas:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Environmental governance and coordination<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Environmental quality and ecological integrity<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Environmental education, awareness and mainstreaming<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Compliance with environmental laws and standards, and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Building Institutional systems and capacity<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
