NEMA provides capacity building to Environment Managers from Districts and Cities on Development of Environment Action Plan

The two-day workshop aimed at training district and city authority environment managers in developing a district and city environment action plan to support local authorities environment planning, budgeting and monitoring hence halting biodiversity loss.

The workshop attracted participants from districts of Kabale, Sheema, Kibuku, Palisa, Ntugamo, Namutumba and 11 cities of Arua, Fort Portal, Gulu, Hoima, Jinja, Mbale, Mbarara, Soroti, Lira, Masaka, and Kampala.

The workshop is being implemented under the UNEP/GEF-8 Umbrella Programme to support National Biodiversity Strategy Action Plan (NBSAP 2025-2030) and Seventh National Report (7NR).

This is in line with Section 11 (c) and 28 (b) of the National Environment Management Act, CAP 181, which requires District Local Governments and Urban Authorities to prepare mainstreamed District and Urban Authorities Environment Action Plans and District Development Plans.
