Environmental Permits

The National Environment Management Authority in collaboration with the relevant lead agencies shall issue licences, permits or other approvals as prescribed in the National Environment Act Cap 181 such as;

1. Lakeshore and Riverbank User Permit

Steps for applying for a lakeshore and riverbank user permit.

  • Develop Brief detailing the scope project. (Include photo of the current site, name, and purpose of the project)
  • Download the National Environment (Wetlands, River Banks and Lake Shores Management) Regulations, 2000 from NEMA website and obtain Form A found in the First Schedule of the regulation.  
  • Print and fill in the Form A.
  • Take the filled Form A and Project Brief to the LC.1 of the area where the project is located for approval.
  • Take the approved files to the Environment Impact Assessment office in your city authority, district, municipality, or town council for approval.
