NEMA Trains Environment Inspectors on Environmental Frameworks

The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), through its Audit, Inspections and Monitoring Division, is conducting a two-day training for environment inspectors from lead agencies across Uganda.

The training focuses on strengthening knowledge and skills in:

  • Uganda’s environmental laws and regulations
  • The Environmental Assessment process
  • Best practices for inspections (basis, rationale, process, and types)
  • Tools for inspections, including checklists, air quality monitors, noise meters, and the online Environmental Licensing Management Information System

This initiative is designed to enhance inspection capacity and improve environmental management nationwide.

Reminder: Lead agencies such as local governments, departments, agencies, or ministries are responsible for managing the environment within their jurisdiction.
