The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) team, led by Mr. Tusingwire Edgar, Head of Technical Services, met with the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) management to deliberate on matters of environmental compliance as UNOC prepares to scale up operations in Uganda’s oil and gas supply chain.
During the consultative meeting held on Tuesday, July 21, at NEMA House in Kampala, UNOC briefed the Authority on the progress of key projects including the Kabale Industrial Park, Kabalega International Airport, the Refinery, Pump Station 1, and planned petrochemical industries.
NEMA’s Executive Director, Dr. Barirega Akankwasah, reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to working closely with UNOC to facilitate environmentally responsible development of these strategic projects. He emphasised the importance of:
UNOC expressed appreciation for NEMA’s continued regulatory support and called for closer collaboration to enhance coordination, expedite environmental approvals, and support investors undertaking nationally significant projects.
